About Sheri

Sheri Spaine Long is an accomplished scholar, author, editor, award-winning teacher, administrator, and educational leader. She specializes in Spanish language, literature, and culture, as well as emerging trends in language pedagogy and international education.


Sheri’s publications include articles, chapters, and reviews, in addition to her widely-adopted textbooks: Nexos. Introductory Spanish, 4th ed., and Alianzas. Intermediate Spanish, 2nd ed.

Volumes Edited

Sheri has had the unique distinction of having served as the Editor-in-Chief of two flagship journals for two national professional associations: Hispania (AATSP) and Foreign Language Annals (ACTFL).


A regular presenter and invited speaker, she actively engages the public and profession through presentations, webinars, workshops, and keynotes locally and globally. Sheri has delivered talks from Cuba to China, most recently in Verona (Italy) and Córdoba (Argentina), and across the United States.


Sheri is privileged to mentor/have mentored many students, teachers and faculty members in the educational field and other professions. She is involved/has been involved with the community on matters relating to language education, Spanish for the Professions (e.g. medical, criminal justice), and international relations. She also enjoys working with individuals seeking to publish in academic journals.
